Bad Meaning Good is a documentary on the London hip hop scene in the late 80’s, early 90’s by Tim Westwood. Some of the footage from this doc is also used in the London Posse Mini Doc put together by Tru Thoughts who will be re-releasing the groups 1990 release Gangster Chronicles on June 17, 2013.

I vaguely remember London Posse but the Bad Meaning Good also features a segment with the Cookie Crew who were like the Salt N Pepa of the UK, and a group I loved. Remember Got To Keep On? Either way, it’s brief, but informative and well worth taking in. Enjoy!

Today I experimented with iPhone lens attachments I bought online about a month or two ago. I like the wide angle/macro combo lens but the fish eye lens is doo doo. I can probably achieve better results with an app.

The book in the photos is Six Out Seven by Jesse Mowry. It was reviewed in the Source Magazine back in the day, and I liked it then so I held onto it. Just recently pulled it out and I plan to re-read it again.

Needless to say, I will be experimenting with photography a lot more this summer.

I went to an event, Out The Box: Rise Of The Sneaker Culture, at the Bata Shoe Museum put on by TDotLovesKicks.com tonight.

Lately the sneaker fiend in me has been creeping out. I blame the day job, but I can’t front, a fresh pair feel nice on the feet.

In a corporate launch event focused on the history of the sneaker, Out The Box: Rise Of The Sneaker Culture looked at its inception of volcanic rubber Converse in late 1800’s to the present era of Kanye collabs with Louie Vitton.

Hip Hop was well represented with kicks on display that referenced Jam Master Jay (R.I.P), Schooly D, and De La Soul. I rolled with a friend who sometimes needs a break from life, and an open bar, DJ Tabs spinning, and some very beautiful ladies, was a much needed break for myself as well.

Tomorrow (Friday, April 25) will be off the hook with NYC legend, Bobbito Garcia on the decks, and an envy of fresh kicks representing for the public opening. The display will remain for the next year (to April 2014) and is worth the conversations alone that will spawn out of viewing this gallery of sneakers.
